Fenced exclusion areas at the Knob Reserve

   Sunday 11th February, 2018

Visitors and users may have recently noticed some fenced-off exclusion plots at the Knob Reserve.

These areas have been established to help protect threatened plant species (like the purple diuris); promote the re-establishment of native grass species and exclude native and non-native browsing animals.

An area has also been established to protect and propagate native bush foods, wild flowers and native grasses.

Some of these areas will be used by GLaWAC employees for reference and educational purposes, while others will be available to the broader Gunaikurnai community for harvesting bush foods and to learn more about Ethnobotanical uses of the plants.
